how it works
the fine art school portrait experience
Let’s face it… School picture days can be stressful! Parents want beautiful photos of their kids and while some kids like having their picture taken, others are not so thrilled about it! As a mother of school-age children myself, I know how to relate to kids and how to create a comfortable environment where each child can enjoy their time in front of the camera.
My team and I strive to capture real personalities and expressions to give parents more than a snapshot. Our ultimate goal is to capture photographs that evoke emotion and show the beauty within every child.
the process from beginning to end
Before picture day:
You are not required to pay any fees BEFORE school photo day. That way YOU ARE IN CONTROL of choosing your favorite images after you see them.
On picture day:
All students will be photographed individually and with their class either against a neutral gray backdrop or outdoors with the beautiful cherry blossom trees in the Aldersgate Playground (weather depending)
After picture day:
Your child’s photos will be available to view online 3 - 4 weeks after school picture day.
When galleries go live, you will have the opportunity to buy photos via an online web gallery managed by Gaby Cavalcanti Photography. Your gallery will include the best images captured during school portrait day. If you purchased Advance Credits, you can use them at this point.
Photos and custom orders placed in the first 7 days after galleries go live will be delivered to your school at no additional cost. Home delivery is always available for an additional fee. Print orders are delivered 2 - 3 weeks after the ordering period ends. Digital products are delivered immediately after payment is received.
preparing your child for their session
When selecting what your child is going to wear for school photo day, consider the following:
• Vivid colors make photos come alive! However, try to avoid pure white and fluorescent/neon colors.
• Please avoid large logos, hoodies, or sweatshirts.
• Clothing that shows off lovely detail in the shoulder area looks great in photographs.
• Consider your child’s personality and give them the opportunity to choose their outfit with you. That way, their photos will reflect their unique style.
On School Picture day:
• Make sure your child has a healthy breakfast that morning (and if you have a preschooler or a young elementary student, don’t forget to wipe that yummy breakfast off their face!
• Finally, by keeping a positive and relaxed attitude about school photos, your child will have an easier time in front of the camera. We will make sure to provide a fun environment so we can capture his/her true personality.
